The Scarlet Cardigan is worked top-down with slipped stitch lines on the back and along the inner sleeves. First, the upper back is worked in rows, with the shoulder shaping created by short rows. Then, an I-cord edge is worked along the back cast-on edge, and stitches are picked up from it for the shoulders. These are worked separately in rows on a circular needle, while increases for the V-neck are also made. Both front pieces and the back are joined to form the body, which is worked in rows on a circular needle. The sleeves are worked from picked-up stitches around the armholes. Finally, stitches are picked up along the front edges for the button bands, which are worked in double knitting.

Size Guide

The Scarlet Cardigan is designed to have approximately 25 cm of positive ease for smaller sizes and gradually less positive ease for larger sizes. Sizes XXS (XS) S (M) L (XL) 2XL (3XL) 4XL (5XL) correspond to a body bust circumference of 75-80 (80-85) 85-90 (90-95) 95-100 (100-110) 110-120 (120-130) 130-140 (140-150) cm. The measurements of the finished cardigan can be found on the first page. Note: These measurements are only valid if the stated gauge is maintained. Measure yourself before you start knitting to determine the size that fits you best. If your bust circumference (or the widest part of your body) measures 90 cm, you should choose size S. A size S cardigan has a bust circumference of 115 cm and would have 25 cm of positive ease in this example. Size chart can be found here.
