The October Sweater is worked seamlessly from the top down in stockinette stitch. First, the upper back is worked flat to shape the neckline, then the work is joined in the round for the yoke. The yoke is shaped with raglan increases. The sleeves and body are finished with wide double-rib cuffs. The neckband is worked last and folded double. The October Sweater is designed to be oversized – go down one size if you prefer a less oversized fit.

Size guide

The October Sweater is designed to have approximately 30 cm (12 inches) of positive ease in relation to your bust circumference. If you prefer a closer fit, you can choose a smaller size. The sizes XXS (XS) S (M) L (XL) 2XL (3XL) 4XL (5XL) correspond to a bust circumference of 75-80 (80-85) 85-90 (90-95) 95-100 (100-110) 110-120 (120-130) 130-140 (140-150) cm [29.5-31.5 (31.5-33.5) 33.5-35.5 (35.5-37.5) 37.5-39.5 (39.5-43.25) 43.25-47.25 (47.25-51.25) 51.25-55.25 (55.25-59) inches]. The finished sweater's measurements are shown on the front page. Measure yourself before you begin knitting to determine which size will fit you best. If your bust circumference (or the widest part of your body) measures 90 cm (35.5 inches), you should choose size S. A size S sweater has a bust circumference of 120 cm (47.25 inches) and would therefore give you 30 cm (12 inches) of positive ease.

Suggested needles: Circular needles 3 mm (US2.5) (40 cm [16 inches]), 3.5 mm (US4) and 4 mm (US6) (40, 60, 80 and/or 100 cm [16, 24, 32 and/or 40 inches]), double-pointed needles 3.5 mm (US4) & 4 mm (US6)
