The Celeste Sweater Junior is worked top-down with a round yoke. First, the neckband is worked, then the round yoke is knitted in pattern with 5 different colors following the chart. After the patterned section of the yoke, short rows are worked to raise the back and give the sweater a great fit. The body and sleeves are worked in stockinette stitch in the round and finished with ribbed cuffs.  

Please note that when working with patterns (Fair Isle), you often need to use a needle 0.5-1 mm thicker than when knitting with a single color. Therefore, make both a single-color and a multi-color swatch before you start knitting the actual project.  

Size Guide

The Celeste Sweater Junior should have a positive ease of approx. 15-19 cm relative to the bust circumference. Sizes 1-2 (2-3) 3-4 (4-5) 5-6 (6-7) 7-8 (8-9) 9-10 (10-12) 12-14 years correspond to a body bust circumference of approx. 53 (54) 56 (57) 59 (62) 64 (68) 72 (78) 82 cm. The measurements of the finished sweater can be found on the front page (note that these measurements only apply if the gauge is met). If the child has a bust circumference of 56 cm, you should choose size 3-4 years. A sweater in size 3-4 years has a bust circumference of 73 cm and would, in this case, have a positive ease of 17 cm. If the measured bust circumference differs from the age indication, you should adjust the length to the person being knitted for. The same applies if the child is smaller/larger than average.

Recommended needles: Circular needles 4.5 mm (40, 60 and/or 80 cm), circular needles 4 mm (60 and/or 80 cm), circular needles 3.5 mm (40, 60 or 80 cm), circular needles 3 mm (40 cm), DPNs 4 mm, 3.5 mm and 3 mm (unless using the Magic Loop method), possibly a larger needle size for the pattern section
