The heel is shaped with short rows before the stocking is knitted in the round to the desired length. Then, for the toe, stitches are decreased on each side before the remaining stitches are sewn together with kitchener stitch to create a neat finish for the stockings. Finally, a loop of silk ribbon is sewn securely to the back or side of the stockings.
