The Storm Sweater Man is worked top down in a textured pattern. The back is worked first, using short rows to shape the shoulders. Then, stitches are picked up for the shoulders, which are joined at the front to form the front. The front and back are placed on one needle below the armholes, forming the body, which is then worked straight down. The sleeves are worked in the round using double-pointed needles or the Magic Loop method. A ribbing is worked at the neck, folded inwards, and knitted to the inside. The Storm Sweater Man is worked in a textured pattern consisting of four different pattern segments.
First, knit a swatch to determine the correct needle size for you – note that the swatch must match both in height and width to achieve the measurements stated on the front. Feel free to make the swatch following the diagram in the instructions.
Size Guide
The Storm Sweater Man is designed to have approximately 10-15 cm (4-6 inches) of positive ease in the smallest sizes, decreasing in the larger sizes. Sizes XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL (4XL) 5XL correspond to a chest circumference of 86-91 (91-96) 96-101 (101-107) 107-113 (113-119) 119-124 (124-132) 132-144 cm (34-36 (36-38) 38-40 (40-42) 42-44 (44-47) 47-49 (49-52) 52-57 inches). The finished sweater's measurements can be found on the front page. Measure yourself first before starting to knit to determine the size that fits you best. If your bust circumference (or the widest part of your body) measures 99 cm (39 inches), you should choose size M. A size M sweater has a bust circumference of 112 cm (44 inches) and would therefore have a positive ease of 13 cm (5 inches).
