Instructions Petite Knit-Longitudinal Stripe Sweater

The Longitudinal Stripe Sweater is knitted from the bottom up with a 4 purl, 4 knit rib pattern. The sleeves are knitted by picking up stitches along the armhole and knitting on a shorter circular needle or double-pointed needles. Finally, a double ribbed edge is knitted at the neckline. Thus, almost no seaming is required to finish the Longitudinal Stripe Sweater.

Since the Longitudinal Stripe Sweater is knitted in a rib pattern, it will contract a bit during knitting. To get the correct measurements and the right gauge, it is therefore important that the sweater is steam ironed and/or washed before wearing. You can iron the sweater with a damp towel over it (do not iron the sweater directly unless you have a very good steam iron) while pulling it to the correct measurements (use a tape measure! See measurements on page 1). The sweater will keep its shape if you iron it thoroughly, pulling it into shape, and then let it dry flat. If the sweater is washed, it should then dry flat, while being pulled to the correct measurements when damp.

Please make a swatch first, which you also steam iron, to determine the gauge before you start the sweater.

Size Guide

The Longitudinal Stripe Sweater should have a positive ease of approx. 25 cm relative to your bust circumference. Sizes XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL (4XL) 5XL fit a body bust circumference of 80-85 (85-90) 90-95 (95-100) 100-110 (110-120) 120-130 (130-140) 140-150 cm. The measurements of the finished sweater are on the front page. Please note that these measurements are only valid if the gauge is met. Measure yourself before you start knitting to determine the size that fits you best. If your bust circumference (or the widest point on your body) measures 90 cm, you should choose size S. A sweater in S has a bust circumference of 114 cm and would in this case have a positive ease of 24 cm.
