The Chestnut Sweater is worked from the top down. First, the upper back is worked flat, while simultaneously shaping the shoulders with short rows for a good fit. Then, the shoulders are worked separately flat on a circular needle before being joined to form the front. The front and back are then joined to form the body, which is worked in the round on a circular needle. For the sleeves, stitches are picked up around the armholes and worked in the round on a circular needle using the Magic Loop method or double-pointed needles. The large roll-neck collar is worked in ribbing from picked-up stitches around the neckline.
First, knit a gauge swatch to determine the correct needle size for you.
Size Guide
The Chestnut Sweater is designed to have approximately 30 cm (12 inches) of positive ease in relation to your bust circumference. The fit is oversized. Sizes XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL (4XL) 5XL correspond to a bust circumference of 80-85 (85-90) 90-95 (95-100) 100-110 (110-120) 120-130 (130-140) 140-150 cm (31½-33½ (33½-35½) 35½-37½ (37½-39½) 39½-43¼ (43¼-47¼) 47¼-51¼ (51¼-55) 55-59 inches). The measurements of the finished sweater are listed on the front. Measure yourself before you start knitting to determine the size that fits you best. If your bust circumference (or the widest part of your body) measures 90 cm (35½ inches), you should choose size S. A sweater in size S has a bust circumference of 120 cm (47¼ inches) and would have 30 cm (12 inches) of positive ease in this case.
